WHY YOU NEED TO ADD AN AFTERSHAVE BALM TO YOUR ROUTINE

If there is one grooming item beyond the rudiments of basic hygiene that any man needs to have in his arsenal, it’s moisturiser. No other product – especially if it’s bolstered by SPF – will do more for you. This is because your skin loses H20 pretty much all day long and we’re guessing you don’t drink enough of it. Lecture over. And we get it, moisturiser is boring. It’s an incremental long game without the instant mood-boosting properties of a fragrance.

The major cosmetics and grooming houses feel your pain. Or they had some leftover “juice” – the biz term for scent. Whatevs, the result is a growing band of primo moisturisers – most commonly referred to as “aftershave balms” that are imbued with a bunch of very famous scents.

Aftershave balms pull double duty by adding hydration and aroma. They are especially good if you suffer from nicks and/or dry skin. Depending on your level of cynicism, you could view these balms as opportunistic add-ons to existing lines. But dismissing these is a bit of a disservice to your complexion. It’s also the reason that balms have long been a part of the core offering of storied Marquis with histories that date back centuries.

And despite what it says on the tin/bottle, they’re not just for use post shaving. Keep it in your desk drawer for a double shot of hydration and scent as you’re dashing out the office for drinks.
